Your adventure begins with a single click. The first thing you need to do upon opening Malta Church Quest is to allow the app to be your guide (by enabling GPS). Instantly, the map will come to life and show you the churches surrounding you. Your challenge number 1: Walk to the nearest church marked on the map. When you are in front of it, press the ‘Register Visit’ button. Congratulations! You have just unlocked your first digital figurine, and your album has officially begun. Three clear options await you: ‘The Jewel of the Capital’ (if you are in Valletta), ‘The Giant of Mosta’ (if you are in the center), or ‘Near Me’ (based on your GPS).

With Malta Church Quest, your phone is your compass and Malta is your game board. Are you ready to complete the largest album in Malta's history? The ‘Proximity Radar’ will alert you with push notifications when you pass near a church: “You are standing in front of a 400-year-old secret. Do you want to discover it?”. When you ‘Unlock Figurines’ with your visit, the grey silhouette lights up, revealing its color and an exclusive fun fact. The ‘Curiosity Quests’ challenge you to find details like “the bell with a war crack” or “the double clock.” Furthermore, a ‘Ranking’ and ‘Special Badges’ allow you to compete in a friendly way with other explorers. Unlock exclusive digital cards, overcome visual challenges at each façade, and compete with friends to see who knows the island's secrets best!

How do you collect, and what do you earn?

The mechanics are visual and rewarding. Upon arriving at a church and verifying your presence (via GPS or QR), the locked sticker in your album transforms with a 'wow' animation into a full-color figurine, saving the date of your visit. And what do you get out of it? On an intangible level, you will climb through ‘Explorer Levels’ (Novice Pilgrim, Knight of Malta, Grand Master of the Dome) and earn ‘Achievement Badges’ for completing sets (e.g., ‘The Three Cities Set’). On a tangible level, ‘Real Discounts’ await you at partner local businesses (e.g., 10% off at Café X or Shop Y upon completing the Valletta Set). You can even purchase a printed ‘Physical Album’ featuring your photos and figurines, or an ‘Explorer’s Certificate’ to validate your journey.
